927 is a sustainable renovation of a 100-year old shotgun house in New Orleans.
This whole-house renovation in New Orleans transformed a historic shotgun double into a single family energy-efficient residence. Many original architectural details were resurrected in this renovation, including cypress doors, transoms and siding, wood flooring, molding and exterior shutters. Newer spaces, such as the two upper-level bedrooms, incorporate salvaged materials such as beadboard, reclaimed doors and windows, and shingled metal nameplates. Sustainability features include a 5kW photovoltaic array that provides almost all of the electricity for the house, new energy efficient HVAC, insulation, ceiling fans throughout, and rainwater catchment.
